Teacher Certification
Undergraduate and field-based
The undergraduate program for initial certification is designed for the student working toward a bachelor's degree who wants to become a certified teacher. Your coursework will focus on two major elements: expertise in your major (your content area) and expertise in the practice of teaching (professional development).
Your training will also include two semesters of field experience. You will spend the first semester on site at a local school two full days a week. During the second semester, you will student teach at the school site five full days a week. You will student teach in the grade level and teaching area of your specialization.
